About our Buxton branch
Surrounded by the idyllic Peak District National Park, Buxton is located on Derbyshire’s scenic ‘A6 corridor’ which stretches all the way from Derby out to Stockport. A tourist hotspot, Buxton is a spa town with a geothermal spring and was the birthplace of several famous Buxtonians, including Tim Brooke-Taylor OBE and Lloyd Cole. The annual Buxton Festival, which started in 1979, features opera and arts and is always popular. Nowadays it includes the Buxton Festival Fringe, known as a warm-up for the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Buxton Opera House (opened 1 July 1903) - the highest opera house in the country - is one of only 25 original Frank Matcham designed theatres still in use today. One of the most important architects of his time, Matcham designed over 100 theatres between 1879 and 1912.
