What's happened?

Beehive Money now has a new look and name: Nottingham Building Society. Apart from this, your savings accounts are the same, so there's no need to worry. Everything will work as usual.

What's stayed the same?

  1. Your accounts: your savings or interest rates won't change as a result of the name change.
  2. Your protection: the Financial Services Compensation Scheme protects your savings up to £85,000.
  3. Customer care: the same service from us you know and love.

Why the change?

Beehive Money has always been part of Nottingham Building Society. We've now united our online and branch services under one name. That means all our customers are part of one community.

As a mutual building society, our members are at the centre of everything we do. We're here to support your individual financial needs, helping you save, borrow and reach your goals. You're a member of our Society.

What do you need to do?

If you haven't done so already, update your Beehive Money app now for the best experience. You can update your app in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Other than that you don't need to do anything. You can also use your desktop to access your online accounts. Your login details haven't changed.

Has Nottingham Building Society bought Beehive Money?

No. Beehive Money, which was launched in 2018, has always been part of Nottingham Building Society.

What if I get an email or text message about this change? Can I trust it?

We have emailed and in some instances texted customers about this change to ensure they are well informed. We'll never ask for your security details in an email or text. If you're unsure call 0344 481 0933.

Will I need to re-register?

You won't need to re-register when Beehive Money becomes Nottingham Building Society. Keep using your current login details. After 3rd December, update your app in the Apple App Store or Google Play for the best experience. You can also use your desktop.

Do I need to do anything because of this change?

You don't need to do anything to keep accessing your savings account. After 3rd December, update your app in the Apple App Store or Google Play for the best experience. You can also use your desktop. Your login details stay the same.

Can I use the Nottingham Building Society app to manage my branch savings account or mortgage?

No. Right now, the app is only for online savings accounts. You can still manage your branch savings accounts and mortgages as usual.

What about the Financial Services Compensation Scheme's protection? (FSCS)

Your savings will still be protected up to a total of £85,000 across all your Nottingham Building Society accounts under the FSCS.

What's the phone number for my online Nottingham Building Society savings account?

The telephone number is the same as it was for Beehive Money: 0344 481 0933

This wasn't within the original terms and conditions for Beehive Money. Are you breaking your contract?

No, this is in line with our terms and conditions. Beehive Money is and always has been part of Nottingham Building Society. The place and people you speak with aren't changing – just the app's name and appearance.

Are you lowering interest rates to fund these changes?

No. We adjust interest rates based on bank base rates, not brand updates. Since we're a mutual, we focus on supporting you and helping your savings grow.

You've moved my online savings account before. Why is it changing again?

We've made changes in the past to improve the savings experience or to keep branch and online accounts separate. Now, we're bringing everything together under one name.

Will online Nottingham Building Society customers be members of the Society?

Yes. Beehive Money's membership rules carry over. You'll still be a member with the same benefits.

Will I need a passbook now to manage my online savings account?

No, just the app or your desktop. Passbooks are only needed for our branch members.

Will this affect my fixed rate savings product maturing?

No. If your account has a maturity date, your money will be available to withdraw the day after it matures. It may take a couple of days to reach your nominated bank account.

For example, if your savings account matures on the 30th November (Saturday) you can request to withdraw your money from 1st December (Sunday). We will then process your request on the 2nd December (Monday) and you'll receive your money in your nominated account on the 3rd December (Tuesday) at the latest. Don’t worry – you will still earn interest on the amount you are withdrawing up to the day before you receive your funds.
